DESCRIPTION:Valentine Theatre | February 10 & 12 \nFriday\, February 10: 7:30 p.m.\nSunday\, February 12: 2 p.m. \nThe Merry Widow\nJust in time for Valentine’s Day! The Merry Widow dances into our hearts with its beautiful melodies and witty storyline. Hanna Glawari is a vastly wealthy young widow from the small and poverty-stricken Balkan province of Pontevedro. Ernest Green conducts this bubbly delight while Jamie Offenbach and James M. Norman bring the light-hearted comedy to life. Starring as the merry widow is Alyson Cambridge (Toledo Opera’s Carmen) and BGSU voice professor Keith Phares as Count Danilo. \nStarring Metropolitan Opera soprano Alyson Cambridge as Hannah Glawari and Metropolitan Opera baritone Keith Phares as Count Danilo Danilovitsch. \nSung in English with English supertitles.

SUMMARY:Toledo Symphony: Ravel's Bolero
DESCRIPTION:Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle Theater | 8 p.m. \nProMedica Masterworks: Ravel’s Bolero \nJoAnn Falletta\, conductor\nMélisande McNabney\, harpsichord \nPaul Dukas: Fanfare from La Peri\nFrancis Poulenc: Harpsichord concerto\nMaurice Ravel: Bolero\nMaurice Ravel: Daphnis et Chloé\, Suite No. 2 \nThis all-French program features works originally composed for ballet in the first half of the 20th century and are now largely performed as concert pieces. Poulenc’s surprisingly large orchestration of his Harpsichord Concerto hints at the instruments baroque origins while influencing the neoclassical works that succeed it.
