DESCRIPTION:Stranahan Theater | 8 p.m. \nDoors: 7 p.m. \nTickets: $30.50 to $70.50\nTickets at etix.com or Stranahan Theater box office. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nKip Moore: Damn Love World Tour\nOpening Act:  The Cadillac Three\n\n\nKnown as “one of country’s more thoughtful artists” (Billboard)\, Multi-platinume singer/songwriter Kip Moore has toured the world earning acclaim and a rabid fanbase as an all-in performer in each setting\, consistently selling out headlining shows internationally with huge followings in The U.S\, The U.K\, Europe\, Australia and Canada. Praised by Noisey as “an uncompromising\, genre-defying artist firing on all cylinders” Moore has blazed his own trail\, with “a bit more Southern rock than traditional country … to be a Kip Moore fan suddenly became a marker of your having a certain refinement in your country-music taste” (Chicago Tribune). \nMoore first splashed into the mainstream with the double-platinum “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck” in 2012\, then followed up with three more best-selling No. Ones (“Hey Pretty Girl\,” “Beer Money” and “More Girls Like You”)\, a trio of ambitious\, critically-praised albums and two gritty EPs that landed Moore on multiple “Best Of” lists. Moore recently garnered resounding acclaim for his fourth studio album\, WILD WORLD. The set\, co-written and co-produced by Moore\, was spotlighted by critics as “especially vital; occasionally\, even rare\,” (Esquire). SUMMARY:Metroparks Toledo Folk Series
DESCRIPTION:Various Locations | June 28\, August 18\, September 23 \nMetroparks Toledo Music Festival Folk Series \nSunny War\nGlass City Metroparks\n1001 Front Street\nOpen-air outdoor concert\nWednesday\, June 28\, 7:30 p.m.\nReservations Required\, Tickets are FREE or Pay What You Want\nWe kick off our 2023 Folk Music Series with the Punk Folk Rock of Sunny War at Glass City Metropark on Wednesday\, June 28. The Nashville-based singer-songwriter and guitar virtuoso has been described as one of the best new voices in Roots music. Sunny has crafted a set of songs that draw on a range of ideas and styles\, as though she’s marshaling all her forces to get her ideas across: ecstatic gospel\, dusty country blues\, thoughtful folk\, rip-roaring rock and roll\, even avant-garde studio experiments. She melds them together into a powerful statement of survival\, revealing a probing songwriter who indulges no comforting platitudes and a highly innovative guitarist who deploys spidery riffs throughout every song. \nParking: Parking can be found at Waite High School with shuttle\, and two lots on 815 Front Street\, all free. Glass City Pavilion parking lot is for handicap-accessible parking only. \nSteve Madewell with special guest John Barile\nBrookwood Area\n5604 Swan Creek Drive\nIntimate listening experience\nFriday\, August 18\, 7 p.m.\nReservations Required\, Tickets are FREE or Pay What You Want\nWhile enjoying a remarkable career in the conservation field\, Steve maintained an active musical performance schedule. He started performing when he was 13 and he has never stopped. He has released three solo projects\, Rivers and Trails\, Arrow Creek\, and most recently\, Hometown Blues. This project hit 15 on the FAI folk charts for April 2022. \nHis songs have been described as subtle musical “arrangements with words that carry substantial weight.” Many of his tunes incorporate bits of Ohio history giving his musical stories a tie to place and an organic validity. In addition to performing as a solo artist\, Steve has many side projects with other musicians and musical ensembles. John Barile will be joining Steve for the evening. John is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and he is constantly performing across Ohio. This duo was a standout at the 2022 Lake Erie Folk Festival! \n*Brookwood Area is an intimate listening room experience. Advanced reservations are required. All tickets are complimentary. \nThe Antivillians\nToledo Botanical Garden\n5403 Elmer Drive\nReservations Required\, Tickets are FREE or Pay What You Want\nSaturday\, September 23\, 7 p.m.\nThe Antivillains is the work of songwriter Sarah Cohen. Born in the Rust-Belt city of Toledo Ohio\, her songs are populated by quiet dramas that have come and gone and pictures of messy lives somewhere in the middle. \nThe music can be cloudy and dreamy\, drawing comparisons to the music of Yo La Tengo or Cat Power with glimmers of the honest and tragic storytelling of Townes Van Zandt or Gillian Welch. As a band\, they have performed alongside such groups as Lucius\, Allison Russell\, Birds of Chicago\, The Go Rounds\, Chris Bathgate\, Breathe Owl Breathe and countless others throughout the United States. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Put-in-Bay Road Races
DESCRIPTION:Put-in-Bay Airport | September 19-22 \nVintage MGs\, Porsches\, Triumphs\, and other rare sports cars return to the Put-in-Bay Road Races Reunion. PIBRRR welcomes owners/drivers of vintage sports cars to come and participate in events and activities. Join us\, race viewing is FREE! \nThe tiny island town of Put-in-Bay hosted sports car races that were conducted by the Cleveland Sport Car Club and the Northeast Ohio Region of the Sports Car Club of America one weekend each year from 1952 to 1959.  There was one additional race in 1963 coordinated by the Detroit Region of SCCA / Waterford Hills Road Racing Club\, but that race was abruptly halted when a competing Elva sports racer went off course (to avoid a dog\, the driver claimed) and crashed heavily\, fortunately without injury to driver or spectators and ending road racing on the island “forever.” \nThe cars that competed in those races were small sports cars with under 2\,000cc of displacement and sports racers (purpose-built closed-wheel racing cars) under 1\,500ccs.  Marques included production cars from makers such as MG\, Triumph\, Porsche\, Alfa Romeo\, Lotus and many others and race-bred cars such as Elva and Cooper as well as a host of home-bred varieties.  The drivers were strictly amateurs\, racing for the fun of it\, but many went on to make significant names for themselves in racing.  These include Carl Haas\, Chuck and Susie Dietrich\, Chuck Stoddard\, Tom Payne\, Ralph Durbin and a long list of others.  Despite the challenging roads and difficult spectator control\, there is no record of any major injuries that resulted from conducting these races. \nMore information about the PIBRRR can be found here.
