SUMMARY:Live at the Library with Guy Davis
DESCRIPTION:Toledo Lucas County Public Library welcomes all to our concert series\, Live at the Library\, featuring musical talent as they tour the country. This month\, we welcome musician and songwriter Guy Davis! \nGuy Davis is a two-time Grammy-nominated musician\, actor\, playwright\, and songwriter whose work spans Roots\, Blues\, Folk\, and World Music. With storytelling at the heart of his music\, Guy addresses social injustices and historical events\, as seen in songs like “God’s Gonna Make Things Over” about the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. \nA celebrated artist\, Guy composed music for the Tony-nominated Broadway revival of Purlie Victorious\, written by his father\, Ossie Davis. His theater work includes starring in Finian’s Rainbow and Robert Johnson: Trick the Devil\, which earned him a “Keeping the Blues Alive” award. \nGuy’s dynamic career also includes performances in over 48 states and internationally. He’s played alongside legends like Pete Seeger and Taj Mahal and opened for B.B. King and Joan Armatrading. Beyond music\, he’s written award-winning plays\, including The Adventures of Fishy Waters\, and hosted 400 online shows during the pandemic. \nGuy continues to tour\, teach\, and inspire audiences worldwide\, blending traditional and modern styles to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds. As he says\, “There is no tale so tall that I cannot tell it\, nor song so sweet that I cannot sing it.”

SUMMARY:Live at the Library with Pat Byrne
DESCRIPTION:Toledo Lucas County Public Library welcomes all to our concert series\, Live at the Library\, featuring musical talent as they tour the country. This month\, we welcome singer Pat Byrne. \nIrish singer-songwriter Pat Byrne brings a captivating blend of introspective lyricism and raw emotion\, inspired by his journey from Ireland to Austin\, Texas. Byrne has seamlessly melded the storytelling traditions of two musical cultures\, earning acclaim on major stages like the 30A Festival\, SXSW\, Kerrville Folk Festival\, and AmericanaFest. \nHis 2021 album “Into The Light” was named a Top 10 Album of the Year by the Austin American-Statesman and earned him the prestigious Black Fret Member’s Choice grant. Byrne’s 2022 release\, “Feels Like Living” showcases his cinematic lyrics and stirring melodies\, capturing the resilience of a working musician. \nDescribed as a fusion of Bob Dylan’s poetic depth\, Bruce Springsteen’s gritty storytelling\, and Woody Guthrie’s spirit of activism\, Pat Byrne delivers music that resonates with universal humanity. Don’t miss this chance to experience an artist Folk Alley calls “transcendent poetry with real-world rock-n-roll storytelling.”

SUMMARY:Witches Brew
DESCRIPTION:Downtown Napoleon | 4 p.m. \nWitches Brew is a shopping/pub crawl that is held in downtown Napoleon. \nWitches Brew started with the idea that girls just “wanna have fun” and “do good” at the same time. Witches Brew was created as a win/win event. Women can gather their brooms and friends and fly from shops\, pubs and restaurants collecting freakishly good witches treats and brews and have a wicked good time! The “do good” part is that all proceeds from ticket sales and the event benefit Northwest Ohio CASA\, The Center For Child & Family Advocacy and the children’s programs at Henry County Hospital. \nThis event is a fundraiser that is marketed mainly to women who want to have a fun time with friends which also benefits children in their community. \nP.S. Wizards and Warlocks are welcome too! \nComplete schedule and tickets available at symphonyoftrees.com.
