SUMMARY:Magical Women of the Ancient World with Madeline Miller
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an in person virtual author talk with #1 New York Times bestselling author Madeline Miller\, celebrated for her reimagining of classical myth in Circe. \nMiller will explore Magical Women of the Ancient World\, reflecting on how she brought two of mythology’s most formidable figures\, Circe and Medea\, vividly to life. She will discuss her research into ancient magic and the ways she translated early mythological traditions into compelling contemporary fiction. \nMadeline Miller is a #1 New York Times bestselling author and classically trained scholar whose work bridges the ancient world and contemporary storytelling. A graduate of Brown University with degrees in Classics\, she has spent more than fifteen years teaching Latin\, Greek\, and Shakespeare\, and has studied the adaptation of classical texts at both University of Chicago and Yale School of Drama. Her novels reimagine myth through the lens of powerful\, complex women\, most notably in The Song of Achilles\, winner of the 2012 Orange Prize for Fiction\, and Circe\, an instant #1 New York Times bestseller praised for its spellbinding portrayal of witchcraft\, transformation\, and female agency. Miller’s deep research into ancient magic and mythology\, combined with her gift for luminous\, immersive prose\, makes her an ideal guide for exploring the enduring power of magical women in the ancient world. \nFollowing the talk\, guests will have the opportunity to ask questions. \n  \nSigned Book Opportunity \nGuests may preorder an exclusive signed copy of Madeline Miller’s novel Circe\, featuring a Cursed! The Power of Magic in the Ancient World themed book plate. \nAll books purchased in advance will be signed by Madeline Miller. Limit 200 signed copies. The first 80 requests may include personalization. \nWhen preordering\, guests may include: \n\nA first name for personalization\nA short message of up to 100 characters for Madeline to read before signing\nOptional personalization text (maximum 10 words) for the inscription\, or a request for a phrase of Madeline’s choosing\n\nThis is a rare opportunity to receive a signed keepsake connected to the exhibition. \nThis event is presented in connection with Cursed! The Power of Magic in the Ancient World. \nWe encourage guests to visit the exhibition before the talk to deepen their experience. An Ask Me Docent will be available in the galleries from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. to answer questions about the art. \nNonmembers may purchase a $10 exhibition ticket for the day of the event. Exhibition admission is always free for members. \nThis event is free with registration. SUMMARY:Pysanky (Ukrainian Decorative Easter Egg) Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a meaningful and creative evening at this Pysanky egg-decorating fundraiser in support of Camp OFLA. Pysanky are traditional Ukrainian Easter eggs\, created through a wax-resist process and rich with symbolism celebrating renewal\, heritage\, and new beginnings. Your ticket includes complimentary Ukrainian snacks to enjoy. All supplies needed to create your own Pysanky eggs will be provided – no prior experience required. \nBeyond the art\, this event is a wonderful opportunity to support Camp OFLA\, a language immersion camp where students learn and live language through hands-on experiences like cooking\, singing\, dancing\, sports\, hiking\, and arts and crafts. Camp OFLA is funded entirely by donations\, and proceeds from this event directly support its mission and the Ohio World Language Mission: ensuring every Ohio student has access to a world-class education through second-language proficiency. \n  \nThis is the new MainFeed Media building they’re renting. As of now\, it might not show up on google\, so using the address is best! It’s right across from the Huntington Center
