SUMMARY:Imagination Station Solar Eclipse Viewing Party
DESCRIPTION:Imagination Station | 3 p.m. \nPath Through Ohio | 3:12 PM \nPeople within a 124-mile-wide band in Ohio will bear witness to the total solar eclipse. Many major cities are in the path of totality\, including Toledo. Make your plans now as hundreds of thousands of people are expected to make their way to the region to witness this once-in-a-lifetime event. \nThe total solar eclipse will begin at 3:08 pm\, with the final exit of the Moon’s shadow from the state at 3:19 pm. \nTotality in Toledo begins at 3:12 pm and will last for nearly two minutes and a partial eclipse will be visible before and after. Plus\, the moon will be relatively closer to the Earth during the 2024 eclipse allowing it to be larger and last longer in duration. \nThe last total solar eclipse visible in Ohio was in 1806. The next total solar eclipse in Ohio will be in the year 2099. \nThe Weather\nApril weather in Ohio can sometimes pose a challenge. Ideally\, an eclipse viewer will want crystal clear skies for the biggest wow factor. But\, even if it’s cloudy\, you will still experience some of the other phenomena like darkness\, drops in temperatures and changes in wildlife behavior.

SUMMARY:First Siege 1813
DESCRIPTION:Fort Meigs | May 25-26 \nA PIVOTAL FIGHT \n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs April 29\, 1813 dawned\, the soldiers at Fort Meigs had been surrounded for two days by British forces and their Native American allies. This was a defining moment in the history of our state and nation. The First Siege of Fort Meigs would help turn the tide of war and usher in a series of American victories that would secure the Ohio frontier. General William Henry Harrison wrote that day\,“It is at length reduced to certainty that the enemy are about to carry into effect their threatened attack on this post” and urged his men “To your posts then\, fellow Soldiers\, and remember that the eyes of your Country are upon you!” \nJoin us as Fort Meigs hosts re-enactors from across the U.S. and Canada to commemorate the First Siege of Fort Meigs by recreating authentic military camps and tactical demonstrations. Experience period camps\, musket and cannon demonstrations\, battle re-enactments\, hands-on activities\, and more!
