The season opens with a collision of ideas and sound. Ray Angry, keyboardist for The Roots, channels his voice through the combined forces of the orchestra and UMS Choral Union singers with Black Athena~ Power—a bold fusion of ancient histories and modern questions. From there, Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique dives headlong into the obsessive and surreal, a fever dream scored for orchestra. Together, these works ask what music can express—not just about feeling, but about power, legacy, and imagination.
