Live at the Library with Joshua Davis
Toledo Lucas County Public Library welcomes all to our concert series, Live at the Library, featuring musical talent as they tour the country. This month, we welcome singer and guitarist Joshua Davis.
Joshua Davis was raised in the folk tradition, immersed in music, social movements, and the land. With a voice both weathered and warm, Davis captivates audiences, bringing confessional intimacy to any stage, whether a global venue or a small, offbeat room. His poetic sensibility, tireless work ethic, and remarkable ability to connect with listeners of all ages have made him a standout troubadour.
For over two decades, the Michigan-based artist has honed his craft as a songwriter, bandleader, guitarist, and vocalist. Deeply invested in the American musical diaspora, Davis explores the threads connecting folk, blues, jazz, ragtime, and country, all while forging his own unique style. “I’m not a purist,” he explains. “I play with the American folk lineage and its metaphors.”
A finalist on NBC’s The Voice (Season 8), Davis has released a steady stream of albums, each reflecting his heartfelt observations on life, love, and change. His latest release, Live From The Robin, recorded over two nights, pares his songs to their emotional, musical, and lyrical roots. It offers a raw, intimate glimpse of an artist in deep conversation with his audience. “I’ve wanted to make this album for years,” Davis says. “I love playing solo shows. They let me dig deep into my songs and really connect with the moment.”
Joshua is excited to join us at Main Library to meet our Toledo audience!
