A Night Before Christmas At the Museum

November 16 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

What happens when the magic of Christmas brings the paintings and sculptures of the Toledo Museum of Art to life? An incredible adventure, of course! While visiting the museum, a young girl named Florence discovers a miniature ballerina statue in a gift bag. To Florence’s astonishment, the statue of the Little Dancer opens its eyes and comes to life! The Little Dancer leads Florence on an amazing journey through the museum. Florence meets the beautiful Queen Nefertiti and a mummy who turns out to be not at all scary! She is swept into a whirlwind of fun At the Fair. She questions The Thinker to test how smart he really is, and even joins in a game of Blind Man’s Bluff. She dances a hornpipe with Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry and plays with a delightful young lady and her pet bird and dog. In the Asia gallery, she is entranced by the dance of the Indian goddess Parvati.
This enchanting ballet will feature original choreography by Ballet Theatre of Toledo’s Artistic Director Nigel Burgoine, live performance of composer Dr. David Jex’s original score, and professional sets and costumes.
