The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald: An Evening with Meredith Moon

November 9, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The Valentine proudly presents Gordon Lightfoot’s daughter, the singer, songwriter, and musician, Meredith Moon!  Miss Moon will sing her father’s mega-hit, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, along with her own folk and roots influenced compositions. Miss Moon’s Valentine appearance is part of the weekend long National Museum of the Great Lakes commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Moon will also share with the audience how her father’s recording of “The Wreck” influenced her family life, and her own career path. Conversations and music for all ages to enjoy.
Meredith’s website reveals that the Ontario-based singer began writing songs at the age of eight, taught herself guitar by the age of 14 and travelled Canada as a busker while still in her teens.
Moon is the daughter of legendary singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot. It’s not that Moon actively hid this fact, but she has made efforts since entering the spotlight to ensure her music speaks for itself. That included adopting her mother’s maiden name. Even when she opened for Lightfoot for some 2022 dates, before his death, neither mentioned the connection to the audience. Meredith’s genre is in roots and folk music.
