23rd Annual Black Swamp Blues Society Challenge
The purpose of the Challenge is to send the areas best blues band and solo/duo act to Memphis, Tenn. to compete internationally in the IBC January 28 – February 1, 2020. This event is judged and timed. The rules are fairly rigid. We follow the same IBC rules set by The Blues Foundation. We find this prepares the competitor for what to expect in Memphis. You may only go down to compete if you have won an affiliate Society’s Challenge.
This year we have a fantastic representation of all types of blues music from the Toledo, Bowling Green, Grand Rapids area. Some who have competed before, some new to the Challenge.
Solo/Duo: Last Persuaders Pat Lewandoski and Stan Mizurny, Ben Miller, Lucian Townes, Ellis Night, Dianne Elaine. In Bands: Buzz Anderson Project, Laurie Swyers New Moon, Nikki D and the Sisters of Thunder, Noah 1 MUA, The Good the Bad and the Blues.
This promises to be one of the best Challenges we have had in several years. Some of the competitors are just starting out, some are seasoned. Many exciting new voices and styles.
Tickets: Members $10, Non-members $12.
